Neutrals are always winners in my book. They never go out of style, meaning they have longevity and you won't have to redecorate regularly to stay on top of the latest trends. Traditional bedroom colours like cream, grey, or an off-white shade are always great as they're fresh and uplifting.
However, I do love a pop of colour in soft furnishings or accessories – these are easy and affordable to change if you get bored. Pantone of the year 2019 is 'living coral', so why not add a splash to your room?

Whether you go for a delicate William Morris print or a larger pattern which is slightly bolder, florals are a staple in classic bedroom designs. Plus, they are the perfect way of adding that pop of colour I mentioned earlier.

Upcycle Second-Hand Finds
The simplest way to combine traditional interior design and a modern aesthetic is to upcycle second-hand items. A granny-chic lampshade adorning your bedside table, mismatched photo frames on the wall above the bed, or old trunks underneath for added storage are all simple yet effective touches.
